Pisang Peak Climbing Overview

Pisang Peak Climbing (6,091m / 19,984ft) is one of the most famous and rewarding trekking peaks in the Annapurna region of Nepal. Rising steadily above alpine yak pastures and the traditional village of Upper Pisang, this stunning pyramid peak offers a perfect mix of classic Himalayan trekking and high-altitude mountaineering.

The route involves technical climbing over snow, rock, and ice, Pisang Peak is a fantastic challenge for climbers looking to test their skills before tackling higher 7,000m or 8,000m mountains.

The journey begins with a scenic trek from Pisang village, leading to a long snow approach and a steep, thrilling climb to the summit. For experienced mountaineers, the mountain's western side, shielded by a massive hanging glacier, presents a significant and rewarding technical challenge. Due to its ideal terrain, the prestigious mountaineering school in Manang regularly uses Pisang Peak for advanced alpine training, proving its high value as a true climbing destination.

Best Time for Pisang Peak Climbing

To enjoy safe climbing and clear mountain views, there are two main climbing seasons in Nepal:
1. Spring Season (March to May)
This is the peak mountaineering season. The weather is stable, daytime temperatures are comfortable (15°C to 20°C), and the visibility is exceptional. You will trek through lush green forests filled with blooming wildflowers and rhododendrons before reaching the snow line. (Note: Early morning and night temperatures can drop between 5°C and -10°C).
2. Autumn Season (September to November)
Autumn brings crisp, dry air and beautiful deep blue skies right after the monsoon rains stop. The weather is very reliable, providing unprecedented views of the snow-capped Himalayan peaks. Daytime temperatures range from 14°C to 20°C, dropping down to 5°C to -10°C at night.
