Description

Lower Dolpo Trek is an amazing trekking trip towards the Dolpo region. For Lower Dolpo Trek, we have to move toward the Trans Himalayan region of mid-western Nepal, Dolpo, which is the most remote district of Nepal.

Lower Dolpo Trek is very famous as the hidden valley trek where trekkers will be over-whelmed by the fascinating villages, most of which are land of mystery, scenery and peace.

Lower Dolpo Trek is divided into two parts - lower Dolpo and inner Dolpo. Lower Dolpo has Hindu influence, while inner Dolpo is populated by Tibetans.

This 21 days Lower Dolpo Trek in the lower Dolpo part takes you to Ringmo and beyond - Phoksundo Lake at (3600m.) also known as the Blue Lake contains no aquatic life. The trek crosses two high passes of Baga La (5070 m) and Numa La (5190 m) into Dho Tarap village(4040 m) a region inhabited by people practicing polyandry and pre-Buddhist religion called "Bon Po". The trek follows Tarap Khola to Dunai and ends with a flight to Nepalgunj.

Lower Dolpo trek in Upper Dolpo crosses Sheula pass from Phoksundo Lake to the legendary Crystal Mountains to Shey Gompa(4200 m) a Buddhist monastery and further to Samling Gompa, a Bon Po monastery. This region has a long aura of mysticism about it. Site of Eric Valli's Oscar nominated movie "Caravan" - the people here trade salt for grain with the people from far away land of Hurikot and Jumla to compensate their dwindling winter supply of food. The return trek visits Saldan Gompa to Do Tarap and back to Dunai (2150 m).
